Her pencil tapped on paper a Lissy sighed hardly even able to concentrate today, she lost five more pounds and that even that seemed to be enough. Losing weight seemed simple for her though, just skipping a few meals and counting calories and the pounds just seemed to slide right off her. The only problem was that people seemed to start noticing now and that led to quite a few questions and Lissy found it sometimes really hard to go ahead and lie. It wasn't like it was hard to notice a change in the fifteen year old either as she only became thinner and even a little sickly looking, but she refused to believe that she had a problem because she really did believe that she was fine.
Passing out was nothing to her, and she had done that before and even in class. The nuse just gave her food and that was that. She never once questions the jacket she was wearing or the fact that she was skinnier then she use to be. No one seemed to ever question it much, she just told her lies and moved on with her life. No one ever once looked behind those lies to see that she really wasn't fine, and honestly she didn't really care either. She was just Lissy, that was all people could ever see. Copying down a few notes from the board she adjusted her jacket looking around the room, a few friends here and there but other then that she really knew no one.
Projects the teacher assigned were supposed to change that, "Alright class so it's about time for a project" the teacher said as the class groaned. "I shall be picking partners, so the first group is Ethan Westchire and Lissy James" after that she just stopped listening. Ethan, wasn't he that kid that she asked for a pencil once she thought glancing over at him shrugging. Might as well wait for him to come over to her.

Ethan leaned back casually in his chair, his mechanical pencil flying over the paper, creating random doodles. While there were merely quickly done drawings, they still looked rather good. It was one of Ethan's many talents. He could draw like a pro when he wanted to. Or he could draw like a third grader, just to be silly. It really depended on the time and place, and how bored he was. At this point, he just wanted the class to end.
When the teacher began to speak, Ethan looked up. Something about partners. He glanced back down at his notebook until the teacher said his name, along with a girl named Lissy. He looked over at Lissy, and then his friend who sat right next to him and leaned over. "What are we doing?" Ethan asked, his blue eyes locked on the teacher. "Getting with partners for a project." His friend whispered back. Ethan then sighed, gathered his things into his tattered, checkered backpack, and move to the desk in front of Lissy. He smiled charmingly at her as he turned sideways in the chair to put his legs in the aisle of the desks. He then listened as the teacher began calling out other names, but decided to tune it out, not that it mattered anymore right now.
He turned around to face Lissy, his bright eyes looking at her, taking her in all at once. Ethan typically stared at the people he first met. He seemed to intimidate most, since he almost always made eye contact with them. His blue eyes searched Lissy's eyes for a moment before he flashed her another charming smile. "I don't think we've been properly introduced." He said before holding his hand above the desk's surface for her to shake. "Ethan Westchire." He said kindly. There was almost a spark in his blue eyes. He wasn't shy at all, but the cases seemed to be opposite for Lissy. As long as they'd been in class together, she'd never been really talkative to anyone. Not even in the halls. Ethan always thought that she was either socially awkward, or just quiet. But, then again, who was to say for sure? Maybe she just had bad experiences with the people here. Only she really knew the answer.
Ethan heard the teacher call the last of the names, and without turning around, but looking away for a few moments, he listened to what the assignment might be. Nakita had a nack for finishing his assignments for him, but Ethan was almost postivie that this assignment would be an in-class project only, which was a bit of a bummer to Ethan. However, it seemed to work in his favor. For once, he was paired with someone he didn't know, and if there was one thing Ethan did better than most people, it was make friends.

Lissy wasn’t really one of those people who doodled on their paper, or just zoned out in class being an okay student who tried her best to keep pretty good grades. Her reason for that is her desires to just leave here after High School, not for really any particular reason other than she just felt so trapped here and in a way she was just looking for some change and getting away was sure a change. Besides, there wasn’t really much that was keeping her here since her friends would probably all move their separate ways and where would that leave here, yeah that’s why she was thinking about leaving. She wasn’t the only one either, she knew that and she only really wondered if she’d even be able to leave, but of course that wasn’t really the problem right now.
Glancing at Ethan she nodded really slightly as a way of acknowledging him in till he finally began talking, being class with him before she came to notice that he was quite a talker. Staring at his hand when he stuck it out he shook it nodding again, “I figured since well the teacher said it. But I’m Lissy James” her voice came out quiet as she tried to advert her gaze from him, she had the tendency to get really nervous when people stared at her so looking down was about the last thing she could do. She had a slight thought, that the teacher was a complete and total twit to even think of putting one of the quietest people in class with someone who was pretty known for talking but she wasn’t going to question it.
Turning her attention to the teacher when began talking again she nodded her head, okay History class was simple and by far one of her favorite subjects. This project would be a piece of cake if Ethan was one to cooperate with her; she was commonly annoyed with those people who didn’t. It was in fact one of her biggest pet peeves, and tapping her pencil on her paper she sighed. This will be interesting she thought looking up at Ethan again.

She seemed hesitant of Ethan, and he really couldn't blame her. Ethan was born with a natural talent to befriend everyone he came into contact with. Those that couldn't befriend everyone were usually intimidated by him, though he never understood why. Sighing, he turned away from Lissy to listen more to the teacher. He hated History with a passion, so the project would definitely receive a little bit of slack from him.
Lissy. She had a simple name, and it was one thing that Ethan came to like about her immediately. People who had names that were completely different, so well thought out and exotic.. Well the people who those names belonged to generally seemed to think that they were better than everyone just because they had a name no one else did. If there was one group of people that Ethan could never get along with, it was people like that.
Ethan turned back to Lissy. He'd tuned-out the teacher for most of the project's details, and if he was going to help at all, he was going to need to know what to do. "So, what exactly are we doing?" He asked her. He didn't smile at her this time. She didn't seem to enjoy his company too much, she he found no reason to try to make friends with her at this point. He would simply do the project and let whatever happened, happen. Simple as that. Then again, Ethan was one for a challenge, and since Lissy seemed to reluctant to be friends with him, he'd probably just strive harder. Almost no one could turn away from his friendly smile and charms, and that made him a bit conceited. It also powered him to hold-up to his reputation, though his friends did ultimately mean more than his ego.

Lissy normally didn’t have much of a problem with people, other than the fact that she was simply one of the quiet types and most people knew that about her since she tended to sit away from people in class and when given the chance to work alone she normally did. She was only truly comfortable around her friends and even then she tended to keep secrets from people just to protect herself and listening to the teacher speak she worked on copying down a few important things she thought were usable and tapping her pencil a when she was just thinking. It was a habit, just one of the things she seemed to do just without really thinking. It was like when a person snapped their gum, annoying as it was some people really did have no idea they were even doing it.
Her name was just one that her parents seemed to pick out one day while looking through baby naming books; they were never ones for incorporating anything that had any kind of meaning into her name so Lissy it was. She wasn’t complaining about her name either, even though it was a little plain she seemed to like it and besides in her opinion the name fit her too. It was unique in its own special way, and that was probably what she liked most about it. Looking at Ethan when he turned back to look at her she bit the side of her thumb in thought, hmm well that is a very good question.
“Well first we should pick a topic to do the project on since that’s the main thing” she began directing her attention to her notebook, “the topic chosen should be one in which we can get information and one that isn’t direct and already well known. That would for the main part ruin the point of the project and the fact that we have to do research for it, after we choose the topic we would then do research, writing notes in a notebook, which I have right here as we go along. Then we can pretty much go into the actual project itself” she shrugged biting her cheek, well that’s the obvious part at least.

Ethan couldn't help but chuckle. She seemed... A bit impatient, but maybe that was just Ethan over-thinking, as per usual. He smiled at her now, his blue eyes bright. "Alright. Well, do you have anything in mind? I'm a bit bad at history.. Don't care for it either..." He said with an almost shy grin. He looked down at his hands before looking up at Lissy through his thick black eyelashes.
He smiled slightly as a slip of paper landed on his desk. One of the blondes from the class twirled her hair and walked away, strutting as she did so. Ethan rolled his eyes and unfolded the paper.
Will you go out with me? It read. Ethan looked back to the blonde who waved at him flirtatiously. He smiled back then balled the paper up and tossed it to the floor. The girl's jaw dropped at the action and Ethan simply shrugged.
"I hope you can ignore stuff like that." Ethan said with a sheepish grin. It wasn't like he went for girls like her anyway. He preferred the 'different' girls. The ones who were usually outcasts. Basically, he liked to make people smile. It was just the way he was, and clearly it would take some time on Lissy. But, before the end of this project, he had his mind made up that he would make her smile. He had a goal, and he planned to reach it.

Lissy was clearly a slight geek, due to her obvious love of History and just learning about the past. It seemed to just fascinate her if that was even slightly normal for a person to be interested in things like that and turning red she nodded looking down at her notebook again. “Oh well that’s okay really, not liking History I suppose. I mean not many people do” she looked down quickly again clearly slightly embarrassed having totally voicing the fact that she loved History through her obvious excitement about the project and the idea she already had.
“I’ve always been one for the battles, treaties, and just basic things, and since we’re discussing World War 2 that should be simple since not only do we have the war itself we also have the Holocaust with the killings of the Jews and other groups of people. I’m sure a lot of people are going to pick the Holocaust though, since it’s simply the easiest to talk about so we could talk about the relationships between Stalin and Hitler and the alliances that were formed between them to really just buy Hitler time to invade. Then again if we do go into the Holocaust we could go into the statistics based on the people killed in the Holocaust and the types of people, such as the criminals, the Jews of course, homosexuals, priests, gypsies, Slavs, Polish people, and other groups of people.
You could look at the people killed based on the amount they wished to kill in each country, and the idea of the final solution all together. The fact that Hitler despised anyone who wasn’t of the Aryan race and had them murdered because of that, he even had his best friend killed” she mumbled looking at the blonde walk by sighing. She was one of the people in class that just seemed to annoy her, “no it never really bothers me” she shrugged looking at Ethan. She felt like such a nerd.

Ethan smiled at her now. A genuine. "Wow. You really know your way around this stuff, huh?" He asked with bright, attentive eyes. "You're really smart." He added. Honestly, Ethan had thought that Hitler had only slaughtered jews. Even then, he couldn't remember the appropriate term, though he knew the definition exactly the way the text books had it written.
The annihilation of an entire group of people for political power. Simple as that. What had the term been? Ethan racked his brain, but no words came to mind, so he simply sighed and turned his attention back to Lissy. Honestly, he knew almost nothing when it came to History, and was pretty sure that he was failing the class, but perhaps with a little help with Lissy, that would change. The last thing he needed was to fail. Nakita would have his ass for sure then. She already yelled at him and threatened to fight him every now and again for trying to bully other kids. It wasn't like it was intentional. When Ethan was around certain groups of people, he just had this pull to do what they did.
Even though he was more of a leader than a follower, he often times found himself following more and more people as his social status dwindled. After all, he hung out with outcasts. That alone made him seem like an outcast himself, which of course, wasn't who the popular people wanted to be around.
Ethan smiled again as Lissy sighed in annoyance to the blonde. "Good. She's not my type anyway." Ethan said, rubbing the back of his neck, a shy smile creeping across his lips again.

Lissy nodded slightly, she guessed she did know her way around these kinds of things but when it came to History she just wanted to know everything. She supposed that her love of History came from her father, who just happened to be a History teacher. It came as almost second nature to her and also dubbed her a History geek, not that she cared or anything. “You can say that, my dad’s a History teacher so I guess it just comes as a second nature to me. World War 2 has always been my favorite war to study so I research it even more than necessary, and it’s funny how so many people believe that Jews were the only people slaughtered in the Holocaust when it’s very untrue.
Millions of just innocent people were murdered, and not just Jews. If you didn’t have blonde hair and blue eyes you were different, thus if you were different you were sometimes even unfit to live” Lissy explained. “Hitler had it in his mind that the Jewish people were the cause of the Germans losing World War 1 and because of them he had them and other people separated from everybody else, in what they called “Ghettos”. These “Ghettos” were very unclean and many people died, after that he came up with the final solution and moved them to the concentration camps and later on to extermination camps. You knew if you were going to an extermination camp you were just sure to die” Lissy frowned just imagining that in her head. So many people murdered, it was just devastating.
“Hmm well then” she murmured, “she’s a total bitch anyways. Calls girls ugly and fat, just to feel better about herself so said girls have lower self esteem and all together hate life” she added even quiet. She would know.

Ethan whistled after Lissy had finished talking. "Wow. I'm certainly glad I got paired with you, otherwise, I'd be failing for sure, if I'm not already." He said with a half-hearted grin. "But, your dad's a History teacher. That must be cool. At least there's one class you never have to worry about, right? I mean, if it comes as second nature, then you're pretty much ready for anything this course will throw at you." He said, an interested spark taking place in his liquid blue eyes.
When Lissy said something else, Ethan felt a pang of guilt, and the sadness that flashed across her face made him frown. He reached over her desk to lightly touch her hand, then decided against it. "Yeah. She is a bitch. I'm sorry, if she's ever done those things to you... If it counts for anything, you're obviously not fat, and really pretty. She just hates when she doesn't get her way." Ethan said, jerking his chin in the blonde's direction. When he glanced over and caught her hazel eyes, she glared at him then flipped him off. Ethan laughed. Childish behavior was amusing. "And all of a sudden, I'm her worst enemy because I rejected her." He said, shaking his head and chuckling under his breath. He then looked back up at Lissy, and smiled. Maybe it wouldn't be so hard for her to warm up to him after all.
After a moment of thinking, Ethan cleared his throat and began to speak once more. "So, after school, do you want to head over the library for research, or would you rather do it at home and just compare information later?" He asked. It wasn't like he had a set time to be home. His parents never cared. Like with Nakita. There were times when his ornery sister had shown up back at home at the crack of dawn just to shower and get ready for school. Other times, she skipped school, just so she could hang out late the next night. Yeah. His parents were pretty lenient. If they weren't, Ethan was sure that Nakita would rebel worse than she already did, and that would be bad. It was already bad enough, admittedly, and sometimes, Ethan couldn't stand her for that. After being raised by her parents her entire life, she lacked every once of respect. Maybe it was because she was testing them, and they never put her in her place. After all, Nakita was one for discipline. Those who didn't give it to children where often times disrespected by his older sister.
Ethan was on a completely different scale, however. Always so polite with everyone. Including people like Lissy. If there was one thing he liked to make sure he did right, it was first impressions, and at first, things had gone the exact opposite with Lissy how he'd wanted them. But now, chatting easily with her, despite her seemingly shy nature, things seemed to be turning around, and to Ethan, that was great.

“Well perhaps with my help you can change that failing grade into a passing grade” she said trying to of course be hopeful, she did always try for best and that was just what she planned to do in this case as well. She was one of those people what if matched up with certain people she would do all the work herself if she had to and she hoped it would be the case here; because she already had a lot of work that she had to do. “Hmm yeah I guess it has its perks, he’s always been the one to help me with History and he’s a great study partner” she nodded her head. “I suppose that’s why I have an A in this class” she added.
“A lot of people seem to really give me a hard time, and for really no reason either and you know you try to ignore it but it tends to be really hard to sometimes so you’re just sorta stuck is all. I don’t understand why they all pick on me though and of course no one ever does anyways but still it hurts when it happens and it doesn’t really make you feel good either, I know it never makes me feel good” she bite her lip trying to stop tears from forming shaking her head. “She’ll get over it in like a day when the next hot guy comes her way, my friend Louis was being annoyed by her once and even my older brother. She’s just another one of the school skanks” she sighed a little bit running her fingers through her long hair.
“Hmm well our best bet would to just head right for the library: she said tilting her head slightly, she pretty much lived at the library being someone who just sorta liked reading. She read about anything she could just when she was bored, she didn’t like doing nothing so when she had nothing to do she just read a book. No matter how geeky as that really did seem to sound either, she knew that it came off as geeky. “We would probably be able to get more done that way is what I’m saying” she mumbled.

"Hopefully!" Ethan replied with a short chuckled at his slight stupidity for the subject. The fiddled with the blue scarf around his neck before fasting a button that had come undone on his black and white plaid shirt. He looked back up at Lissy when she began to speak again. He saw the tears forming in here eyes, and another pang of guilt hit him hard in the gut. He flinched, hoping she wouldn't cry. He absolutely hated it when pretty girls cried.
She seemed better whens he spoke about her dad though, and all Ethan could do was nod his head and agree. He wasn't really sure how to respond to the information about her dad. Certainly with a parent as a teacher, she excelled in all of her classes, as most children who had teachers for parents did. It wasn't uncommon to find a student with a mom or dad being a teacher, and them excelling in their academics. As a matter of fact, Ethan couldn't name one child who had a teacher for a parent that ever failed anything. Not one. He was pulled from his thoughts when Lissy spoke again, and he listened intently.
"Hey, no worries. As long as I'm around, no one will mess with you. Promise." He said, smiling his charming smile. He heard a sneer and glanced over at the blonde who pretended to be preoccupied with her manicure. He rolled his blue eyes just as the blonde slammed her hands down on her desk. Ethan turned back to Lissy, just as she started to speak once more.
Ethan couldn't help but laugh lightly as she mumbled. "Well, do you want me to walk with you, or do you have friends to meet up with?" He asked, flashing her a smile. He knew how to get to the library folded. He couldn't even begin to count how many times Nakita had drug him there. Her love for reading always urging him to get into it, though he never could. He liked reading, in all honesty, just not the idea of reading all the time. It seemed tiring to him, almost. Though, it was probably why Nakita was so creative. However, Ethan turned his attention back to Lissy, and waited patiently.

Lissy use to be the type to never cry when she was upset, but lately it seemed to be the only thing that ever seemed right anymore and for that she did seem like she was weak. Wiping her eyes and sighed she shook her head, no use in crying over something stupid anyways. It was almost just a waste of breath now a day to really cry for any reason, it was just not even worth it and she had to just suck it up. That’s what everyone seemed to always say at least, she heard that phrase all the time since her problems were clearly not that bad. She didn’t seem to understand that, other people’s problems weren’t her problems and in her mind her problems really were pretty bad.
Having a dad for a teacher actually never really seemed to affect her all that much, her father like all dads just wanted her to do well and he did also push her brother in his school work and stuff as well. It was the way things just seemed to be at her house, and she never really complained about her father pushing her and being upset if she got a bad grade because doing well was really pretty important to her. She never wanted to fail of course, because no one ever wanted to do that and she was hoping to someday go to college so doing her best now was really pretty important in her mind. Getting good grades meant that she could get into a good college and that was just what she was hoping for.
“You can’t be certain of that” Lissy muttered looking at him seriously, “I mean maybe people won’t mess with me but they already have and what they say has their effects. Everything always has their effects” Lissy mumbled looking down with a shrug looking over at the blonde, “she’s just not even worth looking over at” she shook her head turning her attention back to him. “We could walk there together” she wouldn’t mind that, her friends didn’t really go to the library often so she would probably just bother them if she asked them to walk with her. So if he didn’t want to walk with her she would probably be walking over alone and that just wasn’t any fun.

He watched her wipe her eyes and felt sympathy for her creep throughout his body. He usually felt this way when someone was upset. She was silent for a few minutes before speaking again. When she did, Ethan listened intently. This time, his placed his hand over hers, sure she'd draw away from him, even though it was merely a friendly gesture.
"I promise that no one will. Everyone here knows my sister, Nakita. The last thing they need to worry about is some scene girl beating the ever-living shit out of them for bullying you. Plus, I'm not afraid to stand up for you, and I will." He said with a smile. He'd bullied his sister only a few times before she fought back, and when she did, it landed him in the hospital with severe injuries. She'd tried to kill him, though he'd never tell anyone that. He didn't want to seem physically weak to everyone else. It would cause problems for him. He also didn't a girl standing up for him if they started to bully him for being weak. It would cause the whole world he knew already to simply crumble down to bits.
When Lissy said she'd walk with him to library, he smiled a wide smile. "Great!" He said, happy that she'd be coming along with him. He hated walking alone. Made him feel like just another kid walking down the street, which to most people, he was. Another smile crept up his lips and he heard snickers from the other side of the room. His head snapped up. He used his hand to move his black hair from his eyes to get a better view of the laughing students. When he looked at them, they all stopped, and turned away, continuing with a conversation.

Lissy looked down when he placed his hand on hers and sniffed almost surprised that he did so, did he honestly truly care she seemed to wonder but she of course didn’t question it. “I’m just use to being teased and being bullied for so long and by so many people that I don’t even really seem to care much about it anymore. I just use to affect me so much more than it does now but it does still hurt, and it really always will hurt because just no one deserves to be bullied and teased in such a way that they feel just worthless all the time” she said quietly sighing a little bit and wiping her eyes again surprised that for once someone was even paying attention to her for once. It just seemed to her that often times many people didn’t even want to pay attention to her and it sure did hurt her feelings, it just made her feel so hopeless sometimes and she hated having to ever feel that way.
“I’m sorry for being so emotional, I probably look silly” she looked down listening to people laugh sure they were probably laughing at her and her stupidity. The girls were anyways, the girls in class always made comments and laughed at her it seemed and it just got on her nerves. “Thanks for being willing to stick up for me” she said quietly with an actual smile, he was probably the first person even willing to do a thing like that and that actually sorta surprised her. He just seemed a lot more popular then she seemed to be, wasn’t that worth something to him and he could lose that by being even friends with her,
“Yeah, so I can meet you after school and we can head over to the library then it it’s okay with you” she suggested looking over at the kids who were laughing again. She sure didn’t like half the people in this school, they were always just so rude to people and she didn’t even understand why. She wasn’t that ugly or fat was she? Sometimes she just seemed really insecure because she honestly did believe what people seemed to say about her.
