I just decided to write this up out of boredom.
Stick and stones, may break my bones, but words may never hurt me. It only ever seemed to be a phrase to me, something little kids would say when someone picked on them. I never really paid much thought to the words itself, sticks and stones are just really sticks and stones, but words. Those are words; words can do more damage than simple sticks and stones, funny isn’t it? Simple words doing more damage than sticks and stones, they’re just words, words don’t mean anything right? There’s no damage done right, well you’re wrong. Sticks and stones may break your bones but words can kill, how you might ask? That’s simple, easily explained in time of hearing the same words over and over again for a period of time. Picture this scene before you, a girl is only slightly chubby, but people still call her fat. Fat, ugly, four eyes, freak, lesbian, crazy, annoying, the list of words is four pages long. These words though, can make this girl hate herself for her entire life time, those words make said girl starve herself, and try to make herself beautiful so you can see she really isn’t ugly like you all say she is. In this process she slowly loses herself and who she is, she’s another robot trying to change her life, even though there’s nothing wrong with her. Slowly the pounds drop; she’s ninety pounds now, stick thin, pale, and hurting. No one even notices her, she’s invisible, a shadow to them all. No one cares now, but she does, she’ll always care and she’ll always think she’s nothing to them, she is nothing to them. She doesn’t know that she is something anymore, because to someone she is something. So please help her, before it’s too late.
