I NEED AN EASY FRIEND, I DO With an ear to lend. I do, think you fit this shoe. Becca wasn't quite sure what to think of the music festival starting up in town. She was excited since a few bands she liked were going to be performing, but also really nervous due to the crowds. She was worried about having a panic attack and making an idiot of herself. Though, lately her moods had been a little more stable. And perhaps this would be good for her anxiety. Her therapist told her he was worried she was isolating again and actually told her it might not be a terrible idea to get some exposure therapy going. She had reluctantly sighed and agreed to go the first day.
That morning she woke up early and downed a protein bar and a couple cups of coffee before making one last cup of coffee in her thermal cup, and going to get ready. She slipped into a pair of corseted, upcycled leggings, a black, eyelet skirt that hung in fluffy layers just above her knees. In support of the the grunge music scene of Seattle she slipped on a black Nirvana shirt and doc marten boots. After throwing on assorted jewelry and dolling herself up in her usual dark makeup she was nearly done.
She grabbed her ipod, her cellphone, and her coffin-shaped purse and headed out the door. She drove across town in her hearse, getting passing glances from a few tourists, and pulled into the parking lot. She took a few shaky breaths, drinking some more of her coffee before she put in her earbuds and blared her music. The crowds were surging around her and her nerves were slightly on edge.
Finally, she managed to get inside and found a slightly secluded place around one of the side stages. Becca gently lowered herself to the ground and sipped her coffee, popping out one of her earbuds to hear the goth-esque band playing on the side stage nearest her. She smiled up at the lead singer and titled her head to listen. The music was familiar after just a few notes. It was There Is A Light That Never Goes Out by The Smiths. She pulled out her other earbud and wrapped the cord around her ipod before slipping it into her purse. Before she knew it she was tapping one of her feet and humming along. Softly she began to sing.
"Take me out tonight. I wanna see people and I want to see life. Please don't drop me home, because it's not my home it's their home and I'm welcome no more..."
She stopped singing when a shadow cast over her face. Immediately her eyes widened as she spotted one of her school bullies and the girl's friends standing beside her. She jumped to her feet and tried to figure out which was was the quickest away from them. One of the girls grabbed her and began shoving her around in a circle. They taunted her, calling her awful names and asking why she hadn't killed herself. Offering to help drown her and mocking slitting their wrists.

Remember when they said that what we want can never be done When it all comes crashing down We'll do what we want to, said we'll do what we want toDevyn moved side-ways through the crowd, his head bobbing slightly to the music that pulsed from his headphones. The second the teen had been aware of the Bumbershoot music festival he had anticipated on going. Music, least to say, was a huge part of his life, and usually his outlet when it came to stress. It was the only thing that could make his heart feel light when he was down, and honestly, he hadn't had a lot to feel light about lately. His ex girlfriend- Renee- had refused to let him talk to his son when he called last night. He had gone to bed upset and aggravated with himself and Renee, but he felt better now as he moved along with the other participants and band members. It was some crowd, and a small smile formed on his face.
Devyn found he was glad he had dressed in shorter sleeves, considering the unusually warm air for this time in Seattle. He wore black skinny jeans, a V-neck white t-shirt (not low enough for it to look like the douchbags on Jersey shore...), black skate boarding shoes, and sunglasses. His ebony dark hair was cut so he didn't have to style it, so naturally he left it alone. The crowd itself had a wide range in style, ranging from grungy ripped up tights, combat boots, and band t-shirts to skirts and sandals. Guess music had no boundaries, really, especially since Seattle was such an music-inspired city.
Devyn spent a bit of time walking by the merch tables before he realized that his feet hurt from the walking. He saw places to sit nearby, but he didn't feel like soaking up the sun. He made his way to the side stages, walking by with his hands shoved in his jean pockets, his head down and his black hair falling, framing his face. He almost didn't notice Becca.
Devyn was completely caught off guard at the situation that was laid out before him, though he was glad he caught it. Becca wasn't like most other girls at the school, and her difference from the usual conformity found in high school was one he respected and found..pretty cool, really. He had chatted with her only briefly before, in the most casually way that he suspected she probably, vaguely would recall who he was. Devyn, on the other hand, had a small crush on her. Because of this and several other characteristics of this, he knew he had to help. Devyn shouted at the girls to stop, yanking his headphone out of his ears. They turned to face him, momentarily stopping the stupid mocking game they had been playing moments before. One sneered at him (the leader, he presumed) and told him to mind his own business. He took a few steps closer, hands now clenched to his sides.
"You're wrong. This is my business, because Becca happens to be a close friend of mine. However, considering I'm so obviously out numbered, I guess it would only be understandable for me to back down..." he then smirked a little and nodded to the crowd of cheering, rambunctious fans mostly dressed in gothic attire "but perhaps I could increase my odds?" that did it. Clearly the girls, all dressed posh and uptight, and carried them selves so, blanked at that realization. They were indeed outnumbered, and Dev had called them out on it. They scattered, walking briskly in their high shoes. Devyn's intimidating smirk now turned into a very worried, very concerned frown.
"I cant believe that happened to you...ar-are you okay?" he said, kneeling in front of his current crush and dismissing the fact he had sort of exaggerated when he referred to her as a "close friend". notes: Becca is adorable, and shall be bullied nor mor! > [/blockquote][/left]

I NEED AN EASY FRIEND, I DO With an ear to lend. I do, think you fit this shoe. Becca was hurt as the preps continued to mock her. She did her best not to start crying and stood a little straighter only to be cuffed in the back of the head by one of the girls. They were being so cruel to her! And what had she ever done to them? Not a darn thing, ever. She felt her face turning red and tears pricking at her blue eyes and yet she still kept her mouth shut. She wasn't one to defend herself, even if she'd go out of her way to defend others, and her body language immediately turned into that of a beaten puppy. She kept quiet and stared down at her shoes as they laughed at her and one of them openly shoved her. Daring her in a loud, confident voice to fight back. They knew her well or so it seemed. They knew vegetarian, peaceful Becca wasn't going to raise a hand to fight them.
Which is why one of them had the guts to slap her. The stinging she felt as her head whipped sideways was matched only by the pain in her chest as an anxiety attack threatened to get her. She felt the hot tears running down her face and knew she'd have a red handprint tomorrow. Already the skin was stinging as a reminder. She was pushed down and one of the girls ripped her notebook from her hands, tossing it away from her. Becca began silently crying. Tears ran down her face and still she said not a word, though 'hurt' was all over her face. She hand't even noticed a boy standing there, Devyn she believed his name to be, before she heard his shouts. At first her body tensed up, thinking it was another bully then she spotted his face. And she knew this boy wasn't going to hurt her. But she hadn't expected his actions.
When the boy stepped in she stared at him in awe. As though he were some otherworldly angel who had been cast down to defend her. Why did she deserve defending though? O-Oh no. He was challenging them. She couldn't let him get beaten up or bullied because of her. She opened her mouth to protest but couldn't get her voice to work when he said they were close friends and started blushing. Instead she gathered up her notebook and scooted back, pressing herself against the tree behind her to watch the goings on. He was telling them they were outnumbered. Indeed, with just he and her there was six of the preppy girls. But then she realized, almost as soon as he said it, that they were in a group of dancing and singing goth kids. So, it seemed the preps were the outnumbered ones. They slunk off together like a pack of hyenas, but Becca knew they'd be back for her eventually. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but she would have hell to pay. Then he was beside her, kneeling. Her big, light blue eyes were filled with thanks as she wiped her tears away.
"It happens more than you think. I'm used to it by now. Th-thank you. Devyn, right?" Becca gave him one of her rare smiles and her body language seemed to relax just an inch.
It was a secret, really. But Becca had a small crush on Devyn. He was handsome, smart, and seemed to be a genuinely nice guy. Plus he was always kind to the 'outcast' kids. They had spoken once before. She believed it was at a school function of some sort, though the memory was hazy. She did remember his smile though. It had been a bit of a regular in her dreams ever since. And now here he was, asking her if she was okay and having just stood up for her. Becca's pulse quickened as she carefully popped open her coffin-shaped purse and placed her notebook inside. She closed it and felt a blush returning to her face as she glanced back up at Devyn.

Remember when they said that what we want can never be done When it all comes crashing down We'll do what we want to, said we'll do what we want toThe group of hurtful girls reminded Dev of the bullies he had to deal with throughout most of his younger life. Reminded him of Renee, honestly, though Renee looked more like them but wasn't quite so...violent. She fought with words and someones mental state- Devyn found that out the hard way. Even still, Devyn had to wave off a few hateful words or withstand getting shoved into lockers, but it never got this bad. With the way these girls acted, you'd think that Becca had done something horrible to deserve it. though the only crime she probably committed was being herself. Devyns blood shimmered hot with anger at the girls who'd treat Becca like an animal, and he thought for a moment that he'd be the one to strike out.
He didn't, however. The teenager handled the situation with calm, intellect, and efficiency that surprised himself a little. Devyn wasn't like the other kids, he didn't act out recklessly and in moments like this, his caution and awareness seemed to benefit immensely, though he mostly thought his cautious nature made him a coward. Devyn was insecure, and tended to take attributes and make them worse then they seem to himself, just like almost everyone did. Devyn, however, happened to be more sensitive then he liked, so therefore his insecurities ate at him 3x more then the would a normal person. Right now, however, he thoughts were only focused on the beaten girl on front of him.
He reached out without thinking and lightly wiped her tears away, trying to be careful of the angry red mark from where she was slapped. He shook his hand sadly, taking off his sunglasses so Becca could see his warm, brown eyes that spoke words he didn't. "You shouldn't have to be used to that kind of abuse." he murmured, and smiled timidly at her question "Yeah, I think we've talked before" think? Devyn remembered the moment and anticipated on it happening again, but not like this "And you're Becca, if I'm not mistake. It always takes me a few tries before I remember names." he leaned back on his haunches and the look in his eyes turned from concern to a admiringly look that still showed some of the comfort from earlier. "though I guess a pretty name like yours is hard to forget"
He then slowly rose with his glasses in hand. He couldn't help, although she'd been hurt and crying, how she still appeared as uniquely beautiful as ever. He'd admired her clear blue eyes, fair skin and dark hair, and he felt the welts from when the girls had tortured her didn't have right to be there. If he could grow angry again at the snobs, he would, but right now all he wanted was to make Becca feel better. If this was under any other circumstances, Dev would have probably been to shy to talk and to worried of making a fool of himself, but he'd forgotten those silly worries when he'd seen the girls hitting her. He hated the idea of her having to face them again at school, and tried to make a mental note to attempt to make sure it didn't happen again, even though he couldn't rush into the rescue all the time like he did today. "Hey...lets go get you cleaned up, make sure they didn't hurt you worse then they seem...then I could- could I get you something to drink or um, eat?" he sounded a bit more like the Devyn that was a tad bit shy around girls, even though his actions displayed earlier justified him better. notes: devyn to the rescue! - insert go Diego go rescue song- I already love these two together .-. lyrrics: do it now, remember it later- sleeping with sirens tag: Ren/becca! I NEED AN EASY FRIEND, I DOWith an ear to lend. I do, think you fit this shoe. It was only when he'd managed to shoo off the girls bullying her and all was quiet she got her pulse to slow down and her breathing to return to normal. With Devyn standing next to her she felt a sense of protection. She knew as long he was was crouched down beside her that the girls would leave her alone. Though, despite feeling safer she started mildly at his touch. When he wiped her tears away she felt a pink blush hotten her pale face and her blue eyes turned towards the ground.
As she listened to him talk she was confused. How was one not to get used to something when it happened so often? Sure she didn't deserve to be used to that kind of abuse, but it didn't stop the punches and hurtful words that attacked her every single day. She still gave a half-hearted smile towards the cute boy in front of her and blushed when he complimented her name. She struggled momentarily how to respond.
"O-Oh, thanks. I think it's pr-pretty ordinary. I wish I had a more unique name. Something cool like your's." She gave a shy smile and ducked her eyes again when she realized what she had said.
When he stood up Becca paused for a second before standing up, unsure her shaky legs would hold her. She took a step forward and managed to trip over her monster boots, toppling into Devyn's chest. She grabbed a hold of his shoulder to steady herself and struggled to breathe. All she could smell was his shampoo and think of how warm he felt and-- she righted herself and mumbled a shy apology. Over the rushing in her ears she heard the prompt to go make sure she was okay and get something to drink or eat.
"Well, for saving my life how about I get you something? Coffee or soda, maybe? I'm not much for the food they serve here." She said with a gentle smile as she bravely placed a hand on his arm and walked with him.

Remember when they said that what we want can never be done When it all comes crashing down We'll do what we want to, said we'll do what we want toDevyn gave Bekah another shy (however charming) smile. "Your name is very pretty compared to any of those other girls.". He honestly felt like his words were lame, but he didn't want Becca saying underestimating things like that. Somehow, he felt like he had to prove her otherwise- she was unique. He couldn't be to forward though- he'd notice her blush early and and her timid nature. He'd respect that, even if it took some self control not to point out just how pretty and amazing he'd observed her to be. That would probably be a mistake on his part, as well.
Devyn was caught by surprise as she tried to stand and stumbled into him. Her hand gripped his shoulder in a way he couldn't help but notice, and it was brought to his attention how soft her hair was and how warm she felt- despite her usually dark looks. He barely kept from blushing to, fidgeting with his dark hair a little like he often did when nervous. Lots of girls thought he was cute, and made it obvious, but their appreciation was shallow. He felt the same towards them (though not as cold). Becca was different. She was shy and withdrawn, which in Devyns eyes, made her stand out from the rest. The fact that a girl could make him nervous was a rare thing, he was usually pretty confident.
Devyn met her eyes at her offer."Alright" he said "Where would you like to go? If you don't want to stay here, then there is a cafe in Pioneer Square that is pretty cool. I don't think we'd have to worry about any run-ins there." by run ins, Devyn was referring to any bullies. The cafe wasn't very mainstream, and only some artsy young adults and teenagers invested there. He liked it, and they were best known for their pastries. He'd be pretty shocked if any snobby rich kids would set foot in there. Devyn almost blushed again as she put a hand on his arm, and he gave her a small, encouraging smile. He then wrapped a arm around her shoulders, another daring move for Devyn. He wasn't doing it just to be just daring though, he was also protecting her in case any of her attackers came back. notes: nadda. lyrics: do it now, remember it later- sleeping with sirens tag: Ren/becca! I NEED AN EASY FRIEND, I DO With an ear to lend. I do, think you fit this shoe. Becca smiled, no beamed when he said her name was prettier than the other girls' names. He had no idea how much that little compliment made her feel inside. Growing up she'd alway thought she wasn't pretty enough to get the cute guys. Indeed, she had settled herself to being alone for the rest of her life. The only boy who'd ever showed any interest in her was a guy back in fourth grade...and that turned out to be a dare. She tried not to let the sadness of that memory ruin the bright bubble of joy she felt at Devyn's compliment. She was at a loss for words so she merely blushed and nodded. She was already growing quite fond of this boy. Maybe-- well, perhaps this one would be different. Of course, she didn't want to jinx it by already thinking he liked her.
When she stumbled into him she felt momentarily like an idiot. Then she realized he didn't shove her away or stiffen up like he was disgusted. She gave him an apologetic smile as she mumbled her sorries and stood upright. She was already smitten with him which was probably not a good thing. But he was so kind and he seemed to like her, too! She was so used to guys at school mocking her for her looks, and then choosing the pretty blondes over her. She was so used to school dances where she sat in the corner and watched the happy couples dance together, envious and wishing she could have something like that. So many nights she watched a movie on the couch and wished a boy was there to hold her hand through the scary parts. Nights she woke up crying because she was so utterly, irrevokably alone. She didn't know if she'd ever find that person who would love her forever, but she kept on holding onto that small hope. That little flame that was always there urging her to try again.
She knew about the cafe in Pioneer Square and wondered how many days he had come in and she hadn't noticed. Usually she was tucked away in a back booth with her writing and loud music blaring in her ears. Trying to escape the world instead of becoming one with it. She nodded at the suggestion of going to pioneer square with a beaming smile on her face. Then he put his arm around her shoulders and her heart did flips inside her chest. She honestly thought she'd melt at his touch. She walked a little closer to him and looked up at him with a happy smile. Something rare that people didn't often see. A genuinely happy smile.
"S-So, tell me about yourself?" She said shyly.
